Breiğdalur
in east Iceland
The best thing about Breiğdalur is that there is almost always ice there
in winter, at least in the highest area close to Breiğdalsheiği.
Breiğdalur is the valley you drive through on the way from Höfn to
Egilsstağir if you drive over the mountain Breiğdalsheiği. At the opening of
the valley at sea level you find a small town called Breiğdalsvík.
Breiğdalsvík is 160 km east of Höfn.
The annual Ice climbing festival
took place in Breiğdalur in 2008
The Icelandic Alpine Club has made a Climbing Guide about
Breiğdalur. Contact them for details. www.isalp.is

The route Hreindırafoss is underneath the read arrow.
There are lot of routes in
this valley, most of them a little bit further left of the picture, but also
several route further down the valley.
